About Us

Appalachia Hydrogeologic & Environmental Consulting, LLC (Appalachia) was founded in 2006 and provides a variety of professional services in the areas of hydrogeology and environmental consulting.  Appalachia strives to combine established scientific principles with innovative technology to provide the highest quality services at competitive pricing.  Listening to our client’s objectives and educating our staff with the latest regulatory and technical knowledge is foremost.
 
Appalachia’s staff consists of professional hydrogeologists, geologists and environmental scientists with over two decades of experience assisting industrial, commercial, government and residential clientele across the United States.  Appalachia’s key personnel hold B.S. and M.S degrees in Geoscience with an emphasis in hydrogeology.  Additional credentials include Professional Geologist (PG) registration in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) and Subsurface Evaluator in the State of New Jersey, and post-graduate education in geographic information systems (GIS).  Appalachia has offices located in Bridgewater, New Jersey and Great Bend, Pennsylvania.

Hydrogeologic Studies

Our strong foundation in geology and hydrogeology enables us to provide our clients with a superior work product which surpasses that of our competitors’.  Appalachia’s services include aquifer testing, fracture trace analysis, groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, and more.

SITE INVESTIGATION & REMEDIATION​

Possessing over two decades of experience consulting for a variety of businesses and clients, Appalachia’s staff are knowledgeable and experienced with a variety of contaminants, including metals, PCBs, pesticides, light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPLs) and dense non-aqueous phase liquids (DNAPLs) in  both soil and groundwater.  Appalachia’s extensive experience and firm belief in utilizing the latest technology ensures optimal project efficiency, reduces cost and provides the highest deliverable quality to our clients.

Oil & Gas Drilling Environmental Services

Appalachia provides specialized environmental consulting services in connection with oil & gas drilling development, including water quality baseline assessments of groundwater, streams and lakes, evaluation of alleged water quality impacts, impact mitigation and litigation support.  We maintain strict confidentiality for our clients and use our experience and research  to serve our clients’ needs.

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS)​

Appalachia understands the powerful data management and analytical capabilities of geographic information systems.  Our strong background in GIS allows us to fully utilize and integrate this technology into our work product, providing state-of-the-art hydrogeologic and spatial data analyses for decision and planning support. 

Regulatory Compliance

Most of our clients require regulatory compliance with federal, state, commission and/or local agencies.  Appalachia has working  experience with federal regulations such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA (Superfund) and RCRA.  We also work with Brownfields development and many state programs, such as New Jersey’s ISRA and SRP programs.  For clients in New York and Pennsylvania, we  offer assistance with regulations applicable to those individual states.  Follow the provided link to learn more!

LICENSED SITE REMEDIATION PROFESSIONAL (LSRP)​

On May 7, 2012, New Jersey enacted the Site Remediation Reform Act, altering the regulatory process for environmental sites within the state. As part of those changes, there was a shift of regulatory oversight responsibilities from the NJDEP to private-sector Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs). Appalachia has LSRPs on staff and is pleased to offer these services to our clients.

Due Diligence

Due diligence is necessary for many commercial and industrial property transactions to protect the involved parties.  Appalachia’s staff are experienced in the preparation of Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, which are critical to understanding the potential environmental risks involved with a property transaction.

LITIGATION SUPPORT​

Appalachia’s staff possess strong scientific backgrounds with regard to a variety of environmental issues.  We also understand the importance of conveying this information in a straight-forward manner the layperson can comprehend.  Our experience ranges from providing expert advice, planning/conducting sensitive field services & analyses, composing & reviewing technical documents for litigation and presentation of our work product to both technical and non-technical audiences.
